It snowed when you came home for the first time. A surprise white-out version of the world, completely unexpected, and perfectly magical. Now when it snows, I think of you.
And finger games, sat on a bench in a park. And feeding the ducks. And the way you leaned on me every morning. And your first words. And the last time I saw you.
All these things, as sharp as glass are held close to me today, as they always are, with a proud knowledge of the young man you are growing to become.
Happy birthday. I hope it brings you all that you wish for.

Not written here in.. ooh.. a long time, but just wanted to leave this here:
“For if you suffer your people to be ill-educated, and their manners to be corrupted from their infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded from this, but that you first make thieves and then punish them. ” - Thomas More
The quote above was written in the 16th century. Seems quite appropriate today. (Tassja showed me it, and we were both keen to put it in view).

Like the look on little Nathans face when he met the sea for the first time, a few weeks ago. Looking down at our feet to see the water, and looking for its end. Sheer wonder and delight at not finding it and realising the size of this very wavy bath!
Grateful for this moment, and for the one where he shared the sand he was eating…

Well, Nathan is truly a very cheeky monkey. Yesterday I left him in the living room for a moment and when I came back in he had my mobile in his hands and it was suddenly out of charge. I thought to check to see if he’d called anyone and I was relieved to see he hadn’t.
I really should have checked my sent box too…. silly me.
What a cheeky little boy, sending out a photo of himself to my friends and family. I still have no idea how he managed it. He would have had to navigate to my photo album, open the photo, select options and then navigate to the contacts folder and add each individual! He’s better at using my phone than I am!
He reminds me of an advert there….
